  • Darren Bent unconvinced with Jordan Pickford’s role as England number one

Former Premier League star Darren Bent has said that he has not been entirely convinced with Jordan Pickford as England’s number one. The 26-year-old has been the Three Lions’ first-choice goalkeeper since November 2017 and over the past two-and-a-half years, he has earned 24 caps under Gareth Southgate.

Speaking on TalkSPORT, Bent said that he has no question marks over the goalkeeper’s pedigree but insists that the former Sunderland man has struggled for Everton this term. He added that Pickford should benefit from the postponement of the European Championships to 2021 as that would provide him with more time to re-evaluate himself.

  • Marco Silva Confident of Improving Everton’s Form

Everton boss Marco Silva claims that he can still remain in the job by turning around the club’s poor form. The manager has had a difficult relationship with Everton supporters as the club are going under a crisis in terms of form. Everton have had four managers in less than four years and a recent defeat against Norwich City has started chants about Silva becoming the next manager to get the sack. Even though a number of claims from the likes of Everton chairman Bill Kenwright has emerged in the last few weeks, Silva is clearly fast losing the support of fans.

Mark Hughes and David Moyes have been touted as potential replacements. The club have already dispatched several great managers like Sam Allardyce, Ronald Koeman, and Roberto Martinez in order to invest in Silva. Farhad Moshiri, who is the club’s major shareholder, has indicated that he wants stability at the club. In the past, Everton were able to achieve a lot of success only through stability with David Moyes spending more than a decade at the club before leaving for Manchester United in 2016. Since the exit of Moyes, it has been a troubled period for the Merseyside outfit. Everton are now in a desperate situation with the team just four points away from the relegation zone.

  • Darren Bent delivers verdict on Marco Silva’s future at Everton

Former Premier League star Darren Bent believes Marco Silva is walking a tight rope at Everton and he could be sacked, should the Toffees fail to improve on their league results. The Merseyside outfit made a strong end to the previous season where they beat the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United and that led to suggestions that they could make a strong push for the top six during the ongoing season.

However, that has not been the case with the Toffees struggling for consistency and a four-match losing streak before the international break sees them in the drop zone with just seven points on the board. There have already been calls from the fans for a change in the head coach and Bent believes that could become a possibility, should there be no improvement in the coming months.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has said that he always had the trust and belief that Tammy Abraham would prove his credentials with the club. I’m really delighted that he has got his goals. I think there’s even more to come. He’s in a good place, a place that just requires him to sustain and improve even more and I think with his mentality and the way he is every day I hope to see that.”

Nigeria international Alex Iwobi has said that he wanted to remove the youngster tag from his time at Arsenal and that was the prime reason behind the move to Everton. • Convincing Richarlison to join the club last summer was easy, says Everton boss

Everton manager Marco Silva has indicated that it was an easy task to convince Richarlison to join the club during the previous summer transfer window. The 22-year-old joined the Toffees after a single season in the Premier League with Watford and there were question marks whether he would be able to succeed after a disappointing second half to the 2017/2018 season.

However, he managed to prove his critics wrong with an impressive tally of 14 goals for the Toffees last term and he was mostly recently part of Brazil’s Copa America-winning side. Speaking to the club’s official website, Silva acknowledged that it was not an easy deal in terms of signing the attacker, considering the Toffees had to pay an initial £35m fee to the Hornets.
