Mersyside giants Everton can take their midfield to the next level if they can pull off the transfer of Danish international playmaker Christian Eriksen who has been informed that he can leave Inter Milan in this January transfer window. Inter Milan midfielder Christian Eriksen has struggled to hold down a permanent slot in the Nerazzuri midfield under manager Antonio Conte since he joined the Italians at the start of last year. Inter Milan paid €20m to sign Eriksen from Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur in January 2020 and he had to leave Spurs as he had six months left on his contract and the North Londoners could not risk losing him for free.
The interest of Everton in Christian Eriksen was revealed by media outlet La Stampa. It was disclosed that Everton want to take him on loan until the end of the season. According to La Stampa, Everton are not the only English club to approach Inter Milan with a loan offer for Christian Eriksen. Arsenal are also keen on taking the ex-Ajax Amsterdam player on loan for the remainder of this season despite his ties with North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Everton boosted their midfield with the signings of James Rodriguez, Allan and AbdoulayeDoucoure last summer and the strengthening of that department has played a big role for the Toffees in the Premier League this term. The Toffees led the league for many weeks but they have since dropped to sixth spot on the league table with 29 points. As things stand, Everton are just four points adrift of leaders and defending champions Liverpool to suggest that they can still push for the league title. The Toffees could further strengthen their midfield if they can get a loan deal over the line for Christian Eriksenwho has no goal or assist in 12 Inter Milan matches this season.
