Idrissa Gueye refuses to speak on the PSG speculation
Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye has resisted the temptation to speak on the Paris Saint-Germain transfer link as he is currently with Senegal at the African Cup of Nations. The west African nation have progressed to the semi-final stage of the competition and they are now scheduled to face Tunisia, who are regarded as the underdogs for the encounter.
In a press conference, Gueye was asked about the recent speculation linking him with Les Parisiens and his response was neutral with the focus on winning the African Cup of Nations with Senegal, he said:“I am focused on my competition. I did not read L’Equipe but they told me about it. I am fully focused on my competition. We’ll have time to talk about it again if it’s still there. I cannot talk about it here. Once again, I am focused on my competition.”

According to AS, the Toffees are currently under advanced negotiations with the Blaugrana for the services of the former Valencia man and they are confident of agreeing a fee of around £22m for the permanent transfer of the midfielder. It had previously been claimed that Tottenham Hotspur and Inter Milan could offer strong competition in the pursuit of the Portuguese, but it appears that the Toffees have received a clear route with the player preferring a return to familiar surroundings next term.
As such, the Merseyside outfit appear keen on landing a permanent move for his services but that is dependent on the Blaugrana, who are also evaluating interest from elsewhere for the midfielders. Speaking to O Jogo, the Toffees head coach said: “There is a Portuguese player in the squad that we want, which is Andre Gomes.
Speaking to reporters, Silva said that the club are working closely to cement a permanent deal for the Portugal international, although the final outcome could wait until the end of the campaign, he said: “We already have (an idea). Of course, when I am speaking to him, we have to say what we can say in this moment. To be 100% honest with you, we did nothing yet about the situation because all of our focus is on the season. But I am working with Marcel, we are planning everything, and with time – which is different to last season. We maybe know more than you about the Andre position and all these things, but all we can say to you, is what he said.”
